A word from Natasha:

For years, I struggled with debilitating period pain that significantly impacted my life. Despite seeking help, I found myself overlooked by the medical profession, left to navigate this challenge alone.

My path led me to train as a medical herbalist, where I discovered an unexpected source of relief: the botanical pharmacy thriving just outside my door. This revelation became the foundation of Forage Botanicals, born from a desire to make these natural remedies more accessible to others facing similar struggles.

My academic journey at Oxford further shaped our approach. I researched the design of female-specific medical items - from contraceptive pills to speculums and birthing suites - exploring how these designs influence our experiences and expectations of being female.

This research now informs Forage Botanicals' creative process, ensuring our products are mindful of how design impacts gendered experiences. We're not just creating products; we're fighting for the end to the gender pain-gap.

Our founder, Natasha Richardson has a Bsc (Hons) in herbal medicine and is trained as a doula and antenatal teacher. She ran a successful clinic for over 10 years helping with menstrual complaints from menarche to menopause before writing her book ‘Your Period Handbook’. Now she has a team that takes patients while she focuses on product development and community relationships whilst raising her son and daughter.
